• The Short Story:
Sophia Way scored a game-high 19 points as the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team defeated Swarthmore 65-46 on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
• Hopkins scored the opening four points of the quarter before Bridget Scott got the Garnet on the board at 8:02. A jumper by Audra Woodside tied the game at four.
Maggie Spitzer put JHU back up two with a layup at 5:27, but that was followed by a jumper at the five-minute mark by Christina Holmgren to tie the game once again.
Lillian Scott put the Blue Jays up two but the lead was short-lived as Woodside hit a jumper to tie the game at eight.
Kenz Wilkinson sparked a 6-0 Hopkins run to end the quarter as Johns Hopkins led 14-8 after ten minutes of play.
• A three from Abigail Pirron cut the JHU lead to two making the score 18-16 at 6:31. Two free throws from
Madison McGrath put the Blue Jays back up four, and a layup from
Marissa Varnado put JHU up 22-16. Elizabeth Stiles hit from deep to cut the JHU lead in half, however, a three from McGrath sparked a 7-0 run to put Hopkins up 29-19. Woodside hit a layup with 28 seconds remaining and the teams ended 20 minutes of play with Johns Hopkins leading 29-21.

Sophia Way scored seven straight points in the last two minutes of the third, and her streak was stopped Wilkinson who hit a layup as time expired in the third quarter and JHU led 44-31 after three.
• Johns Hopkins continued to build on its lead in the final quarter. Way gave Hopkins a 20-point advantage with a three and a three from
Lexie Scholtz gave the Blue Jays their largest lead of the game at 21 with 22 seconds remaining as JHU claimed the 65-46 win.
What it Means
• With the win, Hopkins has officially clinched the fourth seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament and will host the first-round game against the fifth seed on Tuesday, February 20.
• JHU improves to 40-11 against the Garnet and has won the last eight meetings.

• Way led all scorers with 19 points and she also grabbed seven rebounds. McGrath added 12 points with four rebounds and two assists.
• Scholtz finished the contest with five points, seven rebounds, and six assists while Scott added six points.

Rory Cole grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds including seven on the offensive end.
