Maggie Coulson scored twice as the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 5-1 victory over Washington & Lee on Friday afternoon at the Carnegie Mellon Tartan Cup.Â

• The Generals got on the board early as Caroline Peters put a header past a diving
Robyn Lipschultz in the eighth minute of the first half.
• The Blue Jays responded in the 22
nd minute as
Maggie Coulson took a pass from
Rachel Jackson and put the shot off the post and into the back of the net. The assist was Jackson's first collegiate point.

Maddy Rocks gave JHU a 2-1 lead at 54:31 as she corralled the ball off a block from a W&L defender and put the shot past Grace Coombs.
• The Blue Jays went up 3-1 at the 59:52 mark on a penalty kick goal from
Riley O'Toole.
• Just a few moments later at 60:32, Coulson netted her second goal of the game on a free kick to the far corner of the net.

Alexandra Damron concluded the scoring for Hopkins as her free kick from 25 yards out found the back of the net in the 80
th minute to close out the 5-1 win.

• Johns Hopkins is unbeaten in its last 13 season openers.
• The five goals are the most goals scored by the Blue Jays in a season opener since they scored five goals in the opening game of the 2013 season.
