LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team has been picked third in the 2019 Centennial Conference Preseason Poll, it was announced today. The poll is voted on by coaches and SID's from around the league.
After finishing tied atop the regular season league standings and falling in the Centennial Conference Finals a year ago, Gettysburg is picked to finish atop the preseason poll once again. Last year's Conference Tournament Champions, Haverford, finished second in the poll, receiving six first-place votes. Johns Hopkins grabbed five first-place votes, finishing third with 162 points. Ursinus (151) and Muhlenberg (136) round out the top-five and also received first-place votes.
Hopkins finished last season with an 18-2 conference record and a 23-5 overall record under second-year head coach
Katherine Bixby. The 18 conference victories are the most in program history, winning 17 games three times in the past. Johns Hopkins qualified for its 21
st Centennial Conference tournament, but the Blue Jays fell to eventual champion Haverford, 43-41.
Johns Hopkins will open the 2019-20 season inside Goldfarb Gymnasium against York (PA) on November 8th at 7 pm. JHU will play its first three games at home and then will open up conference play at home against Bryn Mawr on November 23
rd.
