LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins placed five members on the 2019 All-Centennial Team, headlined by junior
Natalie Aston who was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year. Head coach
Matt Troy also took home the conference's Coach of the Year award in his first season back with the Blue Jays.
Aston becomes the sixth Blue Jay in program history to earn Player of the Year honors, and Hopkins has now earned the award in three of the past four seasons after Elizabeth Wuerstle was dubbed the conference's top player in 2016 and 2017. A junior from Woodland Hills, Calif., Aston becomes just the fourth setter in Centennial history to claim the conference's prestigious award. Aston led the conference averaging 10.70 assists per set, nearly 1.5 more than the next closest in the conference. She also landed on the All-Centennial First Team for the second time in her career (2017).
Leading the Blue Jays to a conference-record 29-consecutive victories,
Matt Troy was selected by his fellow coaches as the conference's Coach of the Year for the second time in his career. Troy also earned Centennial Coach of the Year honors back in 2011 during his first stint with the Blue Jays.
Senior
Louisa Kishton and junior
Simone Bliss joined Aston as First-Team All-Centennial selections. The outside hitting duo ranked first and second in the conference in kills per set, with Bliss leading the way at 3.62 kills/set and Kishton just behind her at 3.39 kills/set. The two each eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark this season, becoming just the third pair of Blue Jay teammates to accomplish the feat in the same season. For Kishton, she becomes just the 15th player in conference history to be named a First-Team selection three times in her career. It was the second-straight First-Team honor for Bliss.
Sophomore
Eleni Panagopoulos was named to the All-Centennial Second-Team after an impressive sophomore campaign. The North Potomac, Md.-native ranked third in the Centennial averaging 3.02 kills per set while tallying the fourth-highest hitting percentage in the conference (.287).
Rounding out the Blue Jay all-conference selections was junior libero,
Nicole Hada, who was named an Honorable Mention selection. Despite missing much of the early portion of the season, Hada's 3.98 digs per set led the Blue Jays and were good for 11th-best in the Centennial Conference.
Senior
Hannah Korslund also was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
