The Short Story: The third-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer erupted for five second-half goals to beat John Jay in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
• After a scoreless first half, the Blue Jays needed less than three minutes into the second to get on the board. Senior
Achim Younker scored what proved to be the game-winner when he headed home his own rebound in the 48
th minute.
• That Younker goal ignited a flurry of three goals in less than 10 minutes for the Blue Jays as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Senior
Conner Jacobs pushed the lead to two when he took a pass from junior
Pablo Martinez and one-timed it inside the left post in the 54
th minute. Younker then bookended the run when he banged home a pass from junior
RJ Moore at the right post.
• Freshman
Ben Biggs made it a four-goal game in the 70
th minute when he intercepted a pass from the goalie and scored from just inside the box. Senior
Liam Moylan closed out the scoring in the 77
th minute.

What it Means
• Today's game was the first-ever meeting between Hopkins and John Jay. The Blue Jays are now 18-15-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
• Hopkins' 17 wins this season are the most since 2007 when it won 18 games and is just two shy of the school record (2006). Â

• Younker led the Blue Jays with a pair of goals and is the first Blue Jay with multiple goals in an NCAA Tournament game since Scott Bukoski on November 12, 2010. He is now tied with Bukoski for career goals in the NCAA Tournament (4) and points (9). Younker is also tied for ninth in program history with 29 career goals.
• Moore moves into a tie for 13
th in school history with 15 career assists. He is now tied for the team lead with five assists on the season.
• Junior
Xander LeFevre played just over 72 minutes without having to make a save. Freshman
Daniel Dang played the remainder of the game and made two saves. Steven Towler took the loss for John Jay while making nine saves in 79 minutes of action. Sam Hampson played the final 11 minutes and made two saves.
• Hopkins outshot John Jay, 34-4, and had a 7-0 advantage in corners.
