LANCASTER, PA - For the second time this season, junior setter
Natalie Aston been named the Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. The Woodland Hills, Calif.-native is the only player this season to earn two of the conference's weekly honors, and the first Centennial Conference player to accomplish the feat since fellow Blue Jay,
Louisa Kishton, earned a pair of player of the week nods last season.
Aston totaled three-set season-highs in assists (41) and digs (20) in Wednesday night's win over Gettysburg, while also tallying five kills on just eight swings. She followed that with one of the highlights of the Blue Jay season in Saturday's regular season title-clinching win over Franklin & Marshall. Aston punctuated a perfect 27-0 regular season by running off 14-consecutive points from the service line to open the decisive third set, including nine aces in the one service rotation.
Johns Hopkins has now taken home five of the ten player of the week honors throughout the 2019 regular season. Aston and the Blue Jays (27-0, 10-0 Centennial) will host the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament this weekend where they'll await the winner of tomorrow's (4) Haverford vs. (5) Swarthmore match.Â
