LANCASTER, PA – Seniors Lexie Scholtz and Lillian Scott of the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team were named First Team All-Centennial while head coach Katherine Bixby was named the coach of the year the league announced today. Scott and Scholtz earned first team honors for the first time in their careers while Bixby earned her first coach of the year award. In addition, Maggie Spitzer was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
This is the first time since 2011 that the Blue Jays have had two players named to the first team and it marks the third time JHU has had the coach of the year in the league. Overall Hopkins has had 23 First-Team All-Centennial honorees.
 
Scholtz, who earned her first all-conference honor became the first player in program history to score over 900 points while pulling down over 500 rebounds and handing out over 300 assists earlier in the season. She has recorded five double-doubles this season and posted 16 double-digit scoring games this season. The South Pasadena, CA native has started all 26 games for the Blue Jays this year and is averaging a career-high 12.7 points per game and a career-best 7.2 rebounds a game while playing 33.2 minutes a game.
 
Scott became the 15th player in team history to score 1,000 career points in the Blue Jays 54-45 victory over Haverford on January 5 as she currently has 1,282 career points which ranks sixth all-time in team history. Scott currently leads the Centennial with 17.4 points per game and is third in three-point percentage, shooting 41.8% from deep. For her career, she has hit 142 shots from beyond the arch which is second most in program history and 11 off tying her for first with Chantel Mattiola. The Westfield, NJ native has scored at least 10 points in all but four games this season and has scored at least 20 points nine times this season. Last season Scott was Honorable Mention All-Centennial and earned second-team honors in her sophomore season.
 
Bixby helped lead the Blue Jays to one of the most successful seasons in program team as her team set the program record for conference wins (18) and the 22 wins the team currently has is the most by a JHU team since 2011-12. Bixby has led Hopkins to back-to-back Centennial Conference Tournament semifinal appearances and the team is set to make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012 as the Blue Jays are heading to Scranton, PA to take on Eastern Connecticut State at 5 pm on Friday, March 1.
