• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins baseball team's eight game winning streak came to an end as Hopkins dropped a 5-2 decision to top-ranked Wooster on Friday morning in Fort Myers, FL.
How it Happened
• The Fighting Scots got on the board first taking advantage of two Blue Jay miscues in the field to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. They added two more runs in the second on a Jake Stuursma double to center to pull ahead by three runs.
• With one out in the third
Mike Eberle doubled to left but he would be left stranded in scoring position. JHU had another runner in scoring position in the fourth as
Adam Kohl and
Jared deFaria both worked walks but Wooster got a double play to end the inning.
• Wooster got two more runs in the fifth as back-to-back one out singles put two runners in scoring position with one out. A sacrifice fly plated one Fighting Scot and another crossed the plate on an error as Wooster took a 5-0 lead.
• JHU could not get much going against Julius who retired the Blue Jays in order in innings 6-8. Hopkins rallied in the ninth as with two outs deFaria worked his second walk of the day and advanced to second on a pinch-hit single b
Chris DeGiacomo. A wild pitch put both Blue Jay runners in scoring position and after a walk to
Tim Kutcher loaded the bases, Eberle singled home two runs to make it a 5-2 ballgame. Colin Springer came in and got the final out of the inning as Wooster took the 5-2 win.
