Â
How it Happened
• Sophomore
Aurora Cordingley staked the Blue Jays to the early lead, curling behind the cage and scoring from in-tight at the 27:58-mark. The Terps answered with five straight goals in a span of four minutes to push out to a 5-1 lead with 23:12 to play in the half. Erica Evans fueled the run with a pair of goals and an assist.
• Senior
Miranda Ibello ended the Maryland run when she took a pass from junior
Maggie Schneidereith in the right alley and scored on the run at 18:55. Less than a minute later, Ibello found Cordingley in the slot and she scored to cut the deficit to two.
• Brindi Griffin put Maryland up 6-3 when she went top-shelf on a side-arm shot from the top of the fan with 17:00 on the clock. Jen Giles pushed the lead to four when she scored off the dodge in the right alley at 9:58. Cordingley then sandwiched a pair of goals around a strike from Evans and the Terps took an 8-5 lead into the half. Â
• Redshirt senior
Ellie McNulty needed just 88 seconds after the break to score as she picked the bottom left corner off the Schneidereith feed to make it a two-goal game. The Terps answered with four straight to push out to a 12-6 lead with 23:13 to go.
• McNulty put the Blue Jays back on the board when she took a pass from Cordingley and scored with a pair of defenders on her. Back-to-back free position goals gave the Terps a 14-7 lead midway through the half. Schneidereith scored on a one-timer from the right alley at the 13:32-mark and the teams would go on to trade goals over a six-minute span. Leading 16-10, Maryland scored three goals in a span of 56 seconds to push its lead to nine with 5:33 left. Ibello closed out the game with a pair of nearly identical goals, just 42 seconds apart, to make it a 19-12 game.
