BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins attackmen Connor DeSimone and Joey Epstein are among the 55 men's lacrosse players nationwide who were recently named to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List.  The Tewaaraton Award is presented annually to the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
 
DeSimone made the move to attack this season and his thriving under first-year coach Peter Milliman and offensive coordinator John Grant, Jr.  DeSimone currently leads the team in points (17) and assists (6) and ranks second in goals (11).  He has registered at least two points in every game thus far and four or more points in three of the Blue Jays' four games.  His 11 goals are already the second-highest total of his career and his 17 points are one shy of his career best.
 
Epstein has started all four games on attack and counts a team-high 12 goals and three assists for 15 points to his credit.  His 15 points rank second on the team and 14 of the 15 have come in the last three games as 11 of his 12 goals and all three of his assists have come during those three outings.  He scored six goals in a win at Michigan and has added back-to-back four-point games since then to run his career totals to 65 goals and 33 assists for 98 points in 25 games played.
 
Players not named to the initial watch list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions will be announced on April 2, before the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees on April 23. Nominees can be players from the watch lists or not from the watch lists, effectively allowing for a second round of additions. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
