« Johns Hopkins (1-0) welcomes Ursinus (1-0) to Homewood Field for the Centennial Conference opener for both teams. This week's game between the Blue Jays and Bears is the only CC game featuring two teams that won their season opener.

« Johns Hopkins went on the road and topped Stevenson, 53-18, last Saturday. The Blue Jays were the only Centennial Conference team to win on the road in week one.

« The Centennial Conference includes 10 teams for football, which translates into a nine-game league record and one non-conference game each season. This has been the scheduling format since Susquehanna joined the league in 2010.
« With last week's 53-18 win at Stevenson the Blue Jays have now won 10 consecutive regular-season non-conference games dating back to 2011.

« Including last week's win at Stevenson, Johns Hopkins has won its last 10 season openers dating back to 2011.
« During the 10-game winning streak in season openers, the Blue Jays have outscored the opposition 423-180 and only two of the 10 games have been decided by 15 points or less.
Centennial Openers
« Since the formation of the Centennial Conference for football in 1983, Johns Hopkins is 25-12 in its 37 league-opening games.
« The Blue Jays have actually lost their last two CC openers - both to Susquehanna as SU handed JHU a 37-35 loss in the 2018 CC-opener and a 28-27 defeat in 2019.Â
« Prior to the losses in its 2018 and 2019 CC openers, the Blue Jays had won 10 consecutive league openers.
« Johns Hopkins' 25 CC-opening wins are the most in league history.
On This Date
« This week's game against Ursinus will be just the fifth the Blue Jays have ever played on September 11.
« JHU first played a game on this date in 1987 and topped St. Peter's, 19-6, that day. Wins against W&L (31-14) and Kean (35-17) followed in 1999 and 2004, respectively, before the Blue Jays dropped their last game on this date, 41-37, at Randolph-Macon in 2010.
Sweet September
« Dating back to 2010, Johns Hopkins is now 38-4 in the month of September after last week's win over Stevenson.
« Also dating back to 2010, the Blue Jays are 18-1 at home and 20-3 on the road in the month of September.
In the Record Book
« The 596 yards of total offense and 53 points the Blue Jays scored last week at Stevenson are both the second-best totals in school history in a season opener.
« The 506 passing yards for the Blue Jays at SU are the third-highest single-game total in school history.
I'm Honored - Part I
« Junior quarterback Ryan Stevens made his starting debut a successful one last week at Stevenson as he was 31-of-46 for 483 yards and five touchdowns against one interception to fuel the 53-18 victory over the Mustangs.
« The 483 yards for Stevens are the most ever in a season opener for a JHU quarterback and the third-highest single-game total in school history.
« For this efforts, Stevens was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week and he was also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
I'm Honored - Part II
« The Blue Jay defense had several outstanding individual performances last week at Stevenson and senior defensive back Finn Zechman was honored as the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
« Zechman totaled five tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and two pass breakups in the victory.
Wellmann Doing Wellmann Things
« Senior wide receiver Harrison Wellmann turned in an 11-reception, 230-yard, two-touchdown performance last week. The 230 yards receiving are a career high and the third-highest single-game total in school history.
Starting QB Streak at 11
« Ryan Stevens got his first career start at quarterback in the 53-18 season-opening win at Stevenson. With that, he became the first Blue Jay other than David Tammaro to start a game at quarterback since early in the 2017 season, when Zack Baker started a game at Dickinson.
« Including last week's win and dating back to 2006, 11 consecutive Johns Hopkins quarterbacks have now won their first career start for the Blue Jays, a streak that started with Shane Kibbe's 21-14 win over Randolph-Macon early in that 2006 season.
Close Calls
« Since the start of the 2013 season, Johns Hopkins has lost a total of 11 games. Those 11 losses have come by a total of 56 points with setbacks by five, three, five, seven, four, three, two, eight, one, three and 15 points. Translation, 10 of Johns Hopkins' 11 losses since the start of the 2013 season have come by a touchdown or less. The 31-16 loss to Muhlenberg (Nov. 2, 2019) marked the first time JHU had lost a regular season game by more than nine points in more than 10 years (2009 season opener at Delaware Valley).
