Â
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays got buckets from four players as they jumped out to that 14-point lead. Senior
Ethan Bartlett capped the opening run with six straight points. The Diplomats finally got on the board at the 16:05-mark thanks to a Omar Nichols jumper. The teams traded buckets over the ensuing two and a half minutes and Hopkins led 18-6.
• A
Tom Quarry three-pointer and
Sidney Thybulle layup quickly pushed the lead to 17. Franklin & Marshall answered with a six-point spurt to pull back within 11 with 10:51 to play.
Conner Delaney drained a pair of free throws and
John Windley hit a triple, sandwiched around a jumper by Travis Cumber, and the Blue Jays' lead was 14 just 85 seconds later.
• John Seidman answered with a bucket in the paint, followed by a Sam Davison three-pointer and the lead was single digits for the first time in nearly 10 minutes. The Blue Jays responded with a methodical 18-6 run over the final eight and a half minutes and Hopkins took a 46-25 lead into the half.
• The second half was more of a back-and-forth affair as the Blue Jays' lead swelled to as much as 28 at the midway point. The Diplomats battled back to within 16, but that's as close as they could get as the 21-point half-time deficit was too much to overcome.
