BALTIMORE, MD – The third-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team scored five goals in the first half from four different players in a 6-3 regular season-finale win against Franklin and Marshall at Homewood Field Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 15-0-2 (10-0) on the season with today's win, and cap off the program's first undefeated regular season since 2011.
The Blue Jays needed just under 30 seconds to breakthrough as sophomore
Katie Sullivan rifled one into the top right corner from the left side of the box off an assist from
Julianna Taxter. The lead doubled two minutes later when
Kacie Fillian headed in a corner kick from
Kendall Dandridge. The Diplomats'
Meg O'Callahan converted on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the half to get F&M on the board trailing 2-1.
The Blue Jays took control back quickly when
Breukelen Woodard crossed one past a diving
Emma Nolan and
Rachel Jackson slotted it home to push the lead back out to two. Freshman
Megha Salvi and
Katie Sullivan added two more goals for Hopkins sending them into the locker room with a 5-1 lead.
Katie Sullivan completed her first career hat trick by taking a pass from
Breuklen Woodard dribbled it around the keeper and tapped it in the back of the net. The Diplomats added two late goals from
Alison Francis and
Bri Skidmore but ultimately fell short to Johns Hopkins 6-3.
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Friday, November 4 when the Blue Jays welcome the winner of the four-five matchup in the CC Tournament to Homewood Field (Time TBD).
