Blue Jays Outlast Lycoming, 69-63

JHU Improves to 3-1 On The Season

WILLIAMSPORT, PA- The 10th-ranked Blue Jays extended their winning streak to three games with a victory over Lycoming College on Saturday. Johns Hopkins used a strong offensive output in the first half to help propel them to the victory. The Blue Jays have now won both of their road games to start the season.

The first half was back and forth the entire way. There was seven ties and 11 lead changes in the first 20 minutes of the contest. JHU had their highest point total in the first half of game this season against the Warriors. The Blue Jays dropped 40 in the first half, including knocking down six shots from behind three-point range. Tom Quarry dropped 10 of his game high 18 points in the first half with a pair of triples. Lycoming also had it going from downtown with five threes of their own and they shot 46% from the field as a team. Quarry knocked down a jumper, assisted by Carson James, to give the Jays a 40-35 lead going into the halftime break.

Hopkins would not squander that lead the rest of the way, as they led for the entire second half to knock off the Warriors. Johns Hopkins locked in on the defensive end in the second half, holding Lycoming to just 1-8 from behind the arc. John Windley got into a nice rhythm in the half, scoring all 13 of his points for the game in the second half, including knocking down three 3-pointers. Lycoming got the deficit down to one with just 33 seconds left after a layup from Isiah Valentine. Windley came down and hit a dagger three, followed by a pair of free throws from James to close out the victory.

Quarry led the way in scoring for Hopkins with 18, followed by Windley with 13 and James with 10. Sidney Thybulle finished the afternoon with 7 points and 9 rebounds, and Ethan Bartlett finished with 5 points and 8 rebounds.
