Van Allen Named National Coach of the Year

JHU Coach's Eighth Time Receiving Award

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Johns Hopkins Head coach Bobby Van Allen was named the USTFCCCA Division III Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. On Nov. 19, Van Allen's program won a Division III record eighth national title, all coming in the last ten years.

This is Van Allen's eighth Coach of the Year honor as he surpassed the legendary SUNY Cortland coach Jack Daniels who has seven national championships. Van Allen's team rose to the occasion once again at the championships, grinding out a three-point victory over the University of Chicago, earning three All-Americans in the process. Alex Ross, Sara Stephenson and Sydney Friedel all earned the honor for Hopkins.

Since the award began in 1993, no coach has received the honor more than Van Allen has. Terry Aldrich of Middlebury falls to second on the list with six Coach of the Year honors.

Van Allen and Hopkins will transition to the indoor track season, kicking off the season this weekend at the Fast Track Season Opener in Staten Island, NY.
