Blue Jays Comeback Falls Short Against Muhlenberg

Team Suffers First Loss Since Opening Game of Season

BALTIMORE MD- The Blue Jays suffered their first conference defeat of the season after falling behind by double digits to Muhlenberg. Hopkins had a surge late in the game to try and complete a comeback victory but ultimately fell short to the Mules on their home floor, 84-77.
 
After going into the half with a 41-37, the Mules came out firing on all cylinders offensively going seven-for-ten from the floor to get out to a 14-point lead, 58-44. During the run, Charlie Gillikin knocked down a pair of threes to help spur the Muhlenberg offensive attack.
 
With 6:37 to go in the game the Blue Jays were trailing 70-57 and began to start clawing back into the game. JHU started to attack the paint scoring 12 straight points from in the painted area to get back into the game only trailing 75-72.
 
With 22 seconds on the clock Lincoln Yeutter drove into the lane and converted on a layup to make the score 79-77. After a foul, Muhlenberg made one free throw but then committed a lane violation to give the Blue Jays the ball down one position. Hopkins went for the tie with the three-pointer but were unable to convert and the Mules sank their free throws to come out with the seven-point win.
 
Carson James led the way with 22 points while shooting 8-for-15 from the floor. Tom Quarry also finished in double-figures with 15 followed up by Jayden Nixon who scored 11 off the bench.
 
Giovanni Rubio led the charge for Muhlenberg with 23 points. Three more Mules also finished the game in double-digit points. Muhlenberg moves on to 5-1 (2-1) on the season.
 
The Blue Jays are off for the holiday break for the next few weeks. They will next play when they head to Nashville on Thursday Dec. 29 when they take on Denison.
