The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team, ranked number one in Division III and 15
th overall, went 1-4 at the Temple Invitational.

How it Happened
Hopkins opened the day with a 22-5 loss to 11
th-ranked Penn, with the Quakers sweeping all three weapons. The Blue Jays then faced host and ninth-ranked Temple and dropped a 20-7 decision. The JHU Foil squad earned a 6-3 win, led by junior
Delphine Tan, who won all three of her bouts.
Hopkins then beat St. John's, 14-13, to earn its first win over the Red Strom since 1991. The Foil squad picked up another big win (7-2), led by sophomore
Czarina Alfonso's three wins. The Sabre squad lost a tough one, 5-4, with sophomore
Jenny Song winning two of her bouts.
The Blue Jays faced another tough task in taking on top-ranked Princeton. The Tigers took a 26-1 win as sophomore
Jasmine Shen earned the lone Blue Jay win. Hopkins closed out the day with a 17-10 loss to seventh-ranked Penn State. The Foil squad pulled a 5-4 win, led by Shen and Tan, who won two bouts each. Sophomore
Diya Kulkarni earned two wins to lead the Epee squad in a tough 5-4 loss. Â
