ROSEMONT, IL – Johns Hopkins junior
Jacob Angelus has been named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week it was announced by the league today. This is the first time in his career that Angelus has been honored by the Big Ten and he shares this week's award with Ross Scott of Rutgers.
After starting the first nine games of the season at midfield, Angelus made his first career start on attack against Michigan last Saturday and helped lead the Blue Jays to a 15-12 win. He recorded the first hat trick of his career and added a personal-best four assists for a career-high seven points in the victory. Angelus had a hand in four of Johns Hopkins' last six goals of the game as the Blue Jays turned a 9-7 lead late in the third quarter into a 15-10 lead with less than a minute to play.
With his effort against the Wolverines, Angelus now has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points on the year. He leads the team in assists, ranks third in points and is tied for third in goals. His seven-point effort against the Wolverines marked his fifth game this season with three or more points and is the first seven-point game for a Johns Hopkins player since
Joey Epstein had seven against Towson in the second game of this season.
Johns Hopkins (5-5) will return to action on Sunday, April 3 when the Blue Jays travel to Rutgers (9-1) to take on the fourth-ranked Scarlet Knights (7 pm). The game will air live on BTN.
