BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins grabbed seven first-place votes and totaled 79 points to earn the top spot in the 2022 Centennial Conference Preseason Football Poll of the league's head coaches.  The Blue Jays grab the top spot in the poll for the 12^th time in the last 13 seasons and the 15^th time since 2004.  Johns Hopkins went on to win the Centennial title in 12 of the previous 14 years in which it topped the preseason poll, including a streak of 10 consecutive seasons from 2009-2018.
 
Muhlenberg, which shared the title with Johns Hopkins in 2021, earned the remaining three first-place votes and totaled 73 points to finish second in the poll, while Susquehanna (66 points), Ursinus (58), Franklin & Marshall (45) and Dickinson (45) rounded out the top five.  Moravian (29), McDaniel (25), Gettysburg (21) and Juniata (9) placed seventh through 10^th in the poll; coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team when casting their ballot.
 
With a share of the 2021 title, Johns Hopkins has won a league-record 15 Centennial Conference titles with all 15 coming since 2002.  Included among the 15 are outright titles in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and shared titles in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2017, 2018 and 2021.  The Centennial Conference did not compete in 2020 (COVID) which means the Blue Jays have claimed at least a share of 15 of the last 19 league titles.
 
Johns Hopkins will open the 2022 season on Saturday, September 3 at Case Western before opening league play a week later at Ursinus (Sept. 10).  One year after playing just four of their 12 games at home, the Blue Jays will play five of 10 regular season games at Homewood Field, where they have lost just three times in the regular season since the start of the 2011 season.
