« Johns Hopkins set a school record with a 63-point showing in the first half of last week's game against Juniata. The previous record of 49 was set in the first half at McDaniel in 2017.
« JHU also tied the school record for most points scored in a quarter with a 35-point effort in the first quarter last week. The Blue Jays scored 35 points in the first quarter at McDaniel in 2017.
JHU 3rd, Talarico 8th in Kickoff Returns
« Through three games, Johns Hopkins ranks third in the nation in kickoff return average as a team as the Blue Jays have returned eight kickoffs for 288 yards, an average of 37.25 yards per return.
« In addition, sophomore EJ Talarico currently ranks eighth in the nation in kickoff returns by an individual as he is averaging 34.0 yards on seven kickoff returns (7-238-1).
Revere Tied for 3rd in Receiving TDs
« Graduate student Quinn Revere continued his torrid streak of finding the end zone last week against Juniata as he had four receptions for 40 yards with two of his four catches going for touchdowns.
« Through three games, Revere has 16 receptions for 142 yards and six touchdowns. He is currently tied for third in the nation in receiving TDs with his six thus far.
« Dating back to last season, Revere has two TD catches in each of JHU's last four games.
It's Been a While
« The Johns Hopkins defense turned in a strong outing in last week's shutout victory against Juniata.
« The Blue Jays held the Eagles to -14 rushing yards and just 123 yards of total offense. The last time Hopkins held a team to negative rushing yards was on November 7, 2009, when the Blue Jays held F&M to -20 in a 51-13 victory.
It's All Academic
« Johns Hopkins set a national record with eight CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in 2021. The eight are the most AAAs produced by one team, in any sport, in any division, in any year ... ever.
« Among the eight AAAs a year ago, six are back for the 2022 season and they include Ross Andersson (DB / 1st Team), Chris Bedell (DL / 2nd Team), Alan Gorny (OL / 1st Team), Luke Schuermann (DL / 1st Team), Emmett Turner (TE / 2nd Team) and JR Woods (OL / 1st Team).
« The eight AAA selections for the football team were part of a haul of 25 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Johns Hopkins produced across all of its athletic programs in 2021-22 ... the 25 are a school record for one year and give Johns Hopkins 43 in the last two years.
