35+ in 10 Straight
« With the 54-point showing in last week's win against Moravian, Johns Hopkins has now scored at least 35 points in a school-record 10 consecutive games dating back to last season.
« The previous record for most consecutive 35-point games was eight. The Blue Jays first scored 35+ in eight straight from 2015-16 and bridged the 2019-21 seasons with an eight-game run as well.
« Dating back to late in the 2019 season, the Blue Jays have reached the 35-point mark in 18 of their last 19 games.
JHU 3rd, Talarico 7th in Kickoff Returns
« Through four games, Johns Hopkins ranks third in the nation in kickoff return average as a team as the Blue Jays have returned nine kickoffs for 318 yards, an average of 35.33 yards per return.
« In addition, sophomore EJ Talarico currently ranks seventh in the nation in kickoff returns by an individual as he is averaging 34.0 yards on seven kickoff returns (7-238-1).
Revere Tied for 6th in Receiving TDs
« Despite not scoring a touchdown last week against Moravian, graduate student Quinn Revere continues to rank among the national leaders in receiving touchdowns.
« On the year, Revere has 22 receptions for 216 yards and six touchdowns. He is currently tied for sixth in the nation in receiving TDs with his six thus far.
« Dating back to last season, Revere had two TD catches in four consecutive games before not having one against Moravian.
Stevens Closing on 5,000, Reaches 50
« With 906 passing yards and 13 touchdown passes through four games, Ryan Stevens is closing quickly on 5,000 career passing yards and 50 career touchdown passes.
« In 19 career games played, he has 4,827 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes to his credit. He ranks eighth in school history in career passing yards and fifth in touchdown passes.
It's Been a While
« The Johns Hopkins defense posted its second consecutive shutout last week with the 54-0 victory over Moravian. This came one week after topping Juniata 70-0 to give the Blue Jays back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2008.
« JHU held Juniata to just 123 yards of total offense and limited Moravian to just 106. This marks the first time the Blue Jays have held consecutive opponents under 200 yards of total offense since a three-game run early in the 2012 season.
« In the recent win against Juniata, the Blue Jays held the Eagles to -14 rushing yards. The last time Hopkins held a team to negative rushing yards was on November 7, 2009, when the Blue Jays held F&M to -20 in a 51-13 victory.
Schuermann Breaks Out
« Reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year Luke Schuermann played just the first half against Juniata and not much longer against Moravian, but made his mark in limited time.
« Schuermann posted six tackles, including 3.5 for losses and one sack, in the win against the Eagles and added four tackles against Moravian.
« Through four games, Schuermann has 17 tackles, including 6.5 for losses and 3.5 sacks.
Closing on 200
« Nick Seidel, Johns Hopkins' career active leader in tackles, has been credited with six tackles through three games and is closing quickly on 200 for his career. Entering this week's game against F&M, Seidel has 191 career tackles to his credit. He also counts 18 pass breakups and eight interceptions, including one last week against Moravian, on his resume.
It's All Academic
« Johns Hopkins set a national record with eight CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in 2021. The eight are the most AAAs produced by one team, in any sport, in any division, in any year ... ever.
« Among the eight AAAs a year ago, six are back for the 2022 season and they include Ross Andersson (DB / 1st Team), Chris Bedell (DL / 2nd Team), Alan Gorny (OL / 1st Team), Luke Schuermann (DL / 1st Team), Emmett Turner (TE / 2nd Team) and JR Woods (OL / 1st Team).
« The eight AAA selections for the football team were part of a haul of 25 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Johns Hopkins produced across all of its athletic programs in 2021-22 ... the 25 are a school record for one year and give Johns Hopkins 43 in the last two years.
On a Roll
« Johns Hopkins is 101-7 in its last 108 regular season games dating back to late in the 2010 season.
« The Blue Jays are 111-16 in their last 127 games overall since late in the 2010 season.
