BALTIMORE, MD – The 12
th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's basketball team outscored visiting Gettysburg 41-28 in the second half to fuel a 76-60 victory over the Bullets in Goldfarb Gym Thursday evening. The Blue Jays shot 62.5% from the floor after intermission and never allowed the Bullets to get closer than seven in the final eight minutes.
With the win, Johns Hopkins improves to 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the Centennial Conference, while the Bullets slip to 10-8 overall and 7-4 in the Centennial. The victory was also the 150
th in the career of Johns Hopkins head coach
Josh Loeffler.

The Blue Jays led 35-32 at the half the Bullets were within two at 37-35 after a
Jordan Stafford jumper just 67 seconds into the second half.
Johns Hopkins answered Stafford's bucket with a 10-0 run that quickly pushed the lead to 47-35 with just over 14 minutes remaining. A
Sidney Thybulle layup ignited the spree, which was capped by a conventional three-point play from sophomore
Brian Johansson.

Gettysburg twice battled back to within six at 50-44 and 54-48 as they outscored the Blue Jays 13-7 over a five-minute span after Johannson's three-point play.Â
Ryan McKeon scored six of his eight points on the night during the spree to lead the comeback for Gettysburg.

Still up seven at 56-49 as the clock ticked under the eight-minute mark, the Blue Jays used a game-ending 20-11 spree to account for the 76-60 final. A lightning-quick 7-0 run turned the 56-49 lead into a 63-49 advantage with 7:20 remaining and Gettysburg was never closer than nine down the stretch.Â
Tom Quarry scored all seven  Blue Jay points during the run with a pair of three-pointers and a free throw in a span of 32 seconds.
Both teams shot well from the floor in an opening 20 minutes that saw the Blue Jays grab the three-point halftime lead. Neither team led by more than five in the first half. A game-opening five-point run for the Blue Jays was quickly answered by a 10-2 spurt for the Bullets that made it 10-7 just over five minutes into the game.

It was a one-possession game either way for the next six minutes before the Blue Jays took the lead for good on a
Jayden Nixon bucket the 8:45 mark gave Hopkins an 18-16 lead. The Blue Jays would lead by as many as five on three occasions in the final eight minutes of the half before Stafford hit a jumper in the lane that made it 35-32 at the half.

Quarry led way for the Blue Jays with a game-high 23 points, 14 of which came in the first half and seven of which came in the game-deciding second-half run. Johannson added 13 and
Carson James added 10 to lead a balanced scoring attack for Johns Hopkins.Â

The Blue Jays held a 38-28 advantage on the glass and shot 54.7% from the floor (29-of-53) for the game after going 15-of-24 (.625) after halftime. Thybulle had six points and 10 rebounds and Nixon (9) and
Lincoln Yeutter (8) gave the Blue Jays a 17-7 scoring advantage off the bench.

Gettysburg also had three players in double figures with
Elijah Williams leading the way with 15.Â
Carl Schaller (12 points) and Stafford (11) joined Williams in double figures, but the Bullets hit just 9-of-27 (.333) shots from the field in the second half after going 14-of-31 (.452) in the first.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, January 28 when the Blue Jays welcome ninth-ranked Swarthmore to Goldfarb Gym (2 pm).
