ARLINGTON, VA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team won eight of 10 bouts with five bonus point victories and three wins by forfeit to fuel a 44-7 win at Marymount in the first-ever meeting between the two teams on Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Jays improve to 5-7 with the victory, while the Saints slip to 0-6.
 
Where the Match Was Won
Up 12-4 after a pair of wins by forfeit at 125 (Dhilan Patel) and 133 (Brent Lorin) and a loss by major decision at 141, the Blue Jays picked up four straight wins to push the 12-4 lead to 32-4.
 
Freshman Connor Powell (149) got the run started with a 12-0 major decision victory.  Frtiz Maurath (157) and Joe Paul (174) then bookended wins by technical fall (17-2 and 18-0, respectively) around a first period pin from freshman Jake Hoffmann at 165 to grab the 20-point lead.
 
Sophomore John Libby added Hopkins' second pin of the day as he stuck Conrad Sund just 26 seconds into the second period.  Jake Pomykata added a forfeit at 285 to close out the victory for the Blue Jays.
 
Notes of Interest
Paul's win is the 98^th of career; he needs just two wins to become the third JHU wrestler to reach the 100-win mark. 
 
What's Next
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Friday, February 3 when the Blue Jays travel to Gettysburg to take on the Bullets (7 pm).
