LANCASTER, PA- The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team had two players selected to the All-Centennial teams for their performances throughout the season, it was announced earlier today. Graduate student Olivia Parisi and sophomore Michaela O'Neil were selected to the first and second All-Centennial teams respectively. This is the fifth consecutive season Johns Hopkins has had multiple players make the All-Centennial squads.
Parisi Honored on the First Team
Olivia Parisi was one of the five players selected to First Team All-Centennial, coming to JHU after spending four seasons at William Smith. Parisi led the way in scoring for the Blue Jays this season as she averaged 11.2 points per game which ranked 10th in the conference. She was also one of the most efficient scorers in the league during the season as she ranked second in field goal percentage (48.3%). Once Parisi became a starter for Johns Hopkins in January, the team was 15-3 the rest of the way in the season. Parisi becomes the 26th first team selection for the Blue Jays which leads the Centennial Conference.
O'Neil Cracks the Second Team
Michaela O'Neil was honored as one of the five players on the All-Centennial second team. O'Neil played and started in all 27 games for Johns Hopkins during her sophomore season and was second on the team in scoring with 8.9 points per game. O'Neil led the Blue Jays from three-point range this season, as she knocked down 24 threes' while going 30% from beyond the arc, both of which were the highest on the team. O'Neil scored a career-high 19 points while going 8-for-13 from the floor earlier this season against McDaniel.
Each team in the conference has one player selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team and the Blue Jays member on the team this year was senior captain Sophie DeBettencourt.
