Andersson Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

Senior Returned an INT for a Touchdown in Win Over Christopher Newport

LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior safety Josh Andersson has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 20-14 victory over Christopher Newport last Saturday.  This is the first time Andersson has been honored by the Centennial.

Andersson got the Blue Jays on the board in the game against the Captains as he returned his third career interception 25 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7.  Andersson's interception return for a touchdown is the first by a Johns Hopkins player since Macauley Kilbane took one back 49 yards for a score against McDaniel on November 13, 2021.
Andersson added two tackles in the victory and sealed the win with a pass breakup on fourth down in Hopkins territory with less than 45 seconds remaining.

Johns Hopkins (2-0) will return to action on Saturday, September 16 when the Blue Jays head to Salisbury to take on the Sea Gulls (1-1).  Kickoff is set for 2 pm.
