LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior safety
Josh Andersson has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 20-14 victory over Christopher Newport last Saturday. This is the first time Andersson has been honored by the Centennial.
Â
Andersson got the Blue Jays on the board in the game against the Captains as he returned his third career interception 25 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7. Andersson's interception return for a touchdown is the first by a Johns Hopkins player since Macauley Kilbane took one back 49 yards for a score against McDaniel on November 13, 2021.
Â
Andersson added two tackles in the victory and sealed the win with a pass breakup on fourth down in Hopkins territory with less than 45 seconds remaining.
Â
Johns Hopkins (2-0) will return to action on Saturday, September 16 when the Blue Jays head to Salisbury to take on the Sea Gulls (1-1). Kickoff is set for 2 pm.
