LEXINGTON, KY – Following a week in which she averaged 13.11 assists per set in a 3-0 week for the Blue Jays, Johns Hopkins volleyball's
Helena Swaak was named the AVCA/Game Changer DIII National Player of the Week, as released by the association earlier today. The sophomore is just the third Blue Jay to earn the accolade in program history, joining Natalie Aston and Simone Bliss.
Swaak opened her weekend with a 35-assist effort in a 3-0 win over 25
th-ranked Ithaca, also tallying a season-high three blocks in the team's first sweep of the Bomber Invitational. Following the opening win, the sophomore piled on 44 assists in another 3-0 sweep over Susquehanna, before wrapping up her near-perfect weekend with a double-double (39 assists and a season-high 13 digs) in a third and final three-set win over SUNY Geneseo.
The McLean, VA native is now averaging 10.52 assists per set, which ranks first in the Centennial Conference and sixth nationally. If the season were to end today her marks would be the most in program history since Aston in 2019 — the junior was named a first team All-American that season — and rank seventh all-time for the Jays.
