PITTSBURGH, PA – Senior
Kellen Roddy and sophomore
Avery Clapp combined for four wins to lead the Johns Hopkins men's swimming team at the Carnegie Mellon quad meet Saturday. Roddy also took the Tartans' pool record in the 1000 Free.
Hopkins kicked off the day with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of sophomore

Jay Heymann finished in 1:31.09. Roddy then turned in a record-breaking swim in the 1000 Free. He beat the field to the wall with a time of 9:28.33 to earn the first of his two wins. Freshman
Adam Sandid led the Blue Jays in the 200 Free as he finished eighth in 1:44.03.
Lloyd followed with a fourth-place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 50.72, as he edged Denison's Nick Settembrine by just one-hundredth of a second. Limberg then finished in third place with a swim of 55.81 in the 100 Back. Clapp grabbed his first win of the day as he turned in a 1:49.76 to win the 200 Fly by nearly one second. Freshman
Rad Couture finished in fifth place with a time of 1:51.91.
Freshman
Andrew Gilbert led Hopkins with a seventh-place finish in the 50 Free in 21.59. Heymann then took fourth place in the 100 Free as he finished in 46.88. Sandid followed in sixth place with a swim of 47.30. In the 200 Back, Lloyd finished in 1:52.27 for fourth place and sophomore
Matthew Hartshorn posted a career-best swim of 1:53.44 for sixth place.
Graduate student
Brandon Stride then placed fourth in the 200 Breast as he clocked in at 2:03.45. Junior
Eric Ji finished in 2:04.78 for sixth place and Limberg finished two-tenths of a second later for seventh. Roddy earned his second win of the day has he finished in 4:36.19 in the 500 Free. Clapp followed with his second win, and an NCAA B time, in the 100 Fly. He beat the field by 1.12 seconds to win the event in 48.68. Couture finished in 50.21 for fourth place.
Junior
Joe Castagno led the Blue Jays with a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM in 1:53.57. Hopkins ended the day with a third-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Gilbert, Clapp, sophomore
Christian Mayr and Heymann finished in 1:23.63.
Hopkins returns to the pool on Tuesday, January 16 as the Blue Jays host NYU and TCNJ.
