SALISBURY, MD – Johns Hopkins finished in a 1-1 draw with host Salisbury in its final non-conference game of the season Wednesday. The 22
nd-ranked Blue Jays are now 7-2-3 on the season while the Sea Gulls are 5-5-2.
It took more than 75 minutes for either team to get on the board and it was the home team that broke the ice in the 76
th minute. Cooper Santos collected a 50-50 ball just over midfield and slipped a pass to Liam Pierce. He took several dribbles into the top right corner of the box and then fired a low shot just inside the back post.
Hopkins answered back a little over five minutes after Salisbury was called for a hand ball two yards outside the box. Graduate student
Francis Meyer took the free kick, blasting a shot through the Sea Gull wall and into the back of the net in the 80
th minute.
Shots were even at 13 apiece and Salisbury had a 3-2 edge in corners. Sophomore
Simon Turner finished with four saves for the Blue Jays while Clif Nehman had five for the Sea Gulls.
Hopkins returns to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, October 12 at Gettysburg. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
