BALTIMORE, MD – Visiting Washington & Lee prevailed, 4-2, in a penalty kick shootout over Johns Hopkins on Sunday to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16. The teams battled to a 1-1 tie through regulation and overtime. The Blue Jays end their season at 13-3-5 while the Generals improve to 14-3-5.
Washington & Lee struck first late in the first half off the foot of Ryan Sharpe. PJ Ryan played a long ball into the Blue Jays' box and Ryan Sharpe got a shot off from in-tight.
Simon Turner made the save, but the ball came right back to Sharpe, who poked it home.
Hopkins drew level in the 50

Will Sangpachatanaruk.
Javi Ordonez played a long ball over the defense and Generals' goalie Will Joseph came out to play it just outside the box. The ball deflected off the back of one of his defenders and landed with Sangpachatanaruk. He then chipped the ball over Joseph and it bounced inside the left post.

Washington & Lee had a 19-8 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corners. Turner finished with three saves while Joseph made one for W&L.
