LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team — which came in at No. 6 in both the D3hoops.com and WBCA preseason polls — was picked to finish first in the Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced this afternoon. This marks the first time the Blue Jays have finished atop the preseason poll since the 2014-15 season.
Hopkins enters the 2024-25 campaign with lofty expectations following the program's first trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 since 1998 a season ago. Head Coach
Rodney Rogan transformed the Blue Jays' offense in Year 1, bumping their scoring average from 57.4 to 68.9 and setting program records in 3-point field goal attempts (637) and makes (185), while maintaining their defensive identity by holding opponents to just 52.7 points per game on the other end.
With all five starters back from last year's team— all of which earned All-Conference recognition — Hopkins will look to get back to the Centennial Conference Championship for the fourth straight season and win the program's first title since 2003.
The Blue Jays received seven first-place votes to earn the poll's top spot with 97 points, with Gettysburg (four first-place votes – 94 points) and Dickinson (81) rounding out the top three.
