BALTIMORE, MD – Following one of the most dominant seasons in program history, Johns Hopkins women's basketball head coach
Rodney Rogan has been named the D3Hoops.com Region V Coach of the Year, as released by the organization this afternoon. Also garnering postseason recognition was
Greta Miller, who earned a spot on the All-Region V Second Team following an impressive junior campaign.
Rogan becomes the first D3Hoops.com Region Coach of the Year in program history after leading the Blue Jays to a program record 26 wins and their first trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 since 1998. He is the third coach to be named an organization's Region Coach of the Year in program history, joining Nancy Blank — who earned the distinction twice from the WBCA in both 1997 and 1998 — as the only two to achieve the feat.
Rogan's first season at Hopkins was one for the record books, as he led the team to new heights in a revamped offense. Under Rogan's tutelage, the Blue Jays entire starting five increased their scoring average from a season ago, leading the team to score 68.9 points per game — well up from their average of 57.4 from the 2022-23 season. Rogan led Hopkins two its most regular season (23) and conference (19) wins ever, including a record-breaking 17-game winning streak from November 14 to January 31, and put the Blue Jays back on the national map with their first NCAA Tournament win since 2019 and first Sweet 16 in the last 25 years.
Miller continues to pile on the postseason accolades after being named to the All-Centennial Conference First Team earlier this year. One of two players to appear in all 30 of Hopkins' game this season, the junior averaged 10.2 points, a team-best 8.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists in a team-high 30.3 minutes per game. Miller's season featured several highlights, including the first 25-point, 15-rebound, five-assist game since at least the turn of the century as well as the Blue Jays' first 10-assist game since the 2011-12 season despite playing being a forward.
A strong presence on the defensive end as well, Miller made her mark in the postseason by registering the game-clinching block as time wound down in the Blue Jays' Round 2 win over Christopher Newport, punching Hopkins' ticket to the Sweet 16 and ending a historic 54-game winning home winning streak for the Pirates.
Miller — as well as the entire starting five from this season — is set to return next year, setting high expectations for the 2023-24 D3Hoops.com Region V Coach of the Year and his players looking ahead to Year 2.
