BALTIMORE, MD – Fourteen players scored as 15
th-ranked Johns Hopkins beat visiting Vanderbilt, 21-3, Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Blue Jays improve to 6-2 on the season while the Commodores fall to 3-2.
Senior
Campbell Case got things going just 47 seconds into the game when she got free in the middle of the fan and blew home a pass from classmate
Marielle McAteer. That ignited an 8-0 Blue Jay run that saw six different player score. Senior
Georgie Gorelick followed Case's tally with a free position goal at 11:49 and just 18 seconds later, Case scored from the doorstep to make it 3-0. Sophomore
Ava Angello notched back-to-back goals, including a player-down score, just 64 seconds apart. Senior
Jordan Carr then scored a transition goal, followed by scores from freshman
Taylor Hoss and McAteer to stake Hopkins to an 8-0 lead with 3:50 left in the first.
Megan Graziano halted the run with a score from in-tight for the Commodores. The Blue Jays answered with goals from freshman

Alayna Costa and JHU led 10-1 after one. Logan Risenhoover scored less than two minutes into the second for Vanderbilt, but a Hoss goal at 10:53 sparked a nine-goal Hopkins run that spanned more than 23 and a half minutes. Seven different Blue Jays scored during the run, which included freshman
Kayley Kakac's first career goal. Graduate student
Bailey Cheetham capped the run at the 2:18-mark in the third with a transition goal after a back-hand pass from senior
Liza Regan.
Morgan White cashed in on a free position shot for the Dores midway through the fourth quarter, ending a scoreless drought of more than 35 minutes. Freshmen
Jane Freeman and
Jaelyn Bennett capped the scoring with their first career goals in the final six minutes.
Angello (4g, 1a) and Cheetham (1g, 4a) led Hopkins with five points apiece. Cheetham's five points and four assists are both career highs. McAteer (2g, 1a), Case (2g, 1a) and Hoss (3g) finished with three points each, while Lescault (1g, 1a), Gorelick (1g, 1a) and Regan (2a) also had multi-point games. Junior
Paris Colgain led the defense with four caused turnovers and four ground balls, both career highs. Graduate student
Jennifer Barry broke the program single-game record with 16 draws on the day, besting the previous mark of 11.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, March 9 versus 12
th-ranked Stony Brook at the Crown Lacrosse Classic in Charlotte, NC. Opening draw at Memorial Stadium is slated for 4:00 pm.
