Phillip Long has been named the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Rookie of the Week. He totaled 16 goals, five assists, six drawn ejections, eight steals and three blocks in four games at the Navy Open.
In his collegiate debut against Gannon, Long scored eight goals and assisted on another, while also grabbing two steals. He followed that with six goals and seven points, three steals, one drawn ejection and a block in the win over Mercyhurst. On Sunday, he totaled three points (2g, 1a), two steals, one drawn ejection and one block in the win over McKendree. Long wrapped up the weekend with two assists, four drawn ejections, one steal and one block versus Salem.
Hopkins returns to action this weekend at the Salem Open. JHU will take on Mercyhurst (1:20 pm) and Gannon (6:40 pm) on Saturday and then LIU (10:40 am) and host Salem (4:00 pm) on Sunday.
