LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins cross country's
Emmanuel Leblond and
Carter Brotherton were named the Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week, as released by the conference this afternoon. Leblond is now a two-time honoree this season while this is Brotherton's first time garnering the weekly honor.
Leblond looked the part of a two-time All-American at this past weekend's John McNichols Invitational, finishing fourth in a field of 385 competitors that included a number of nationally ranked programs. The junior crossed the line with a time of 24:23.3, helping guide the Blue Jays to a fourth-place team finish to beat out the likes of fifth-ranked Lynchburg and 13
th-ranked WashU.
Brotherton was equally impressive in just her second race at Hopkins, pacing all Blue Jays by finishing ninth to lead her team to a fourth-place finish as well. The freshman crossed the line in 22:06.9 to claim her spot in the top 10 in a field of 299 runners, helping Hopkins beat eighth-ranked WashU and ninth-ranked UW-La Crosse.
The Blue Jays are back in action for another highly competitive meet Saturday, Oct. 5 when they will compete at the Paul Short Invitational, with races set to begin at 10 a.m.
