HAMPTON, VA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team closed action at the 2025 Virginia Duals on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Jays dropped a pair of duals to the Apprentice School (38-7) and Averett (35-11).  The Blue Jays finished 1-3 on the weekend and placed eighth in the 15-team tournament.
 
Freshman Giorgio Difalco (141) led the way for the Blue Jays on Saturday as he went 2-0 on the day.  He scored a tight 6-3 win over Jakob Brown of Apprentice and added an 8-0 major decision of Averett's Wyatt Parker.  Difalco finished 3-1 on the weekend with a pair of wins by decision and the one major to his credit; his win against Parker was his 20^th of the season.
 
Also scoring victories for the Blue Jays on Saturday were sophomore Freddy Pimental (157), who added a major decision to Difalco's decision against Apprentice, and graduate student Chris Roybal (165) and junior Jacob Pomykata (285), who added wins by decision and pin, respectively, against Averett.

The Blue Jays went a perfect 3-0 in exhibition bouts on the day with Brennan McGrann (149), Kadin Khalloufi (174) and Samuel Gledhill all scoring victories.  McGrann (major) and Gledhill (pin) picked up bonus-point wins in their lone matches.
 
Roybal's win against Averett was the 50^th of his career, while Pimental's victory against Apprentice was his 40^th.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Sunday, January 19 when they make the short trip to Morgan State.  This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
