BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins won all 14 events to ease past visiting Franklin & Marshall, 195-57, Saturday afternoon at the Newton White Aquatic Center.
Michelle Liu,
Kate Petitt and
Julia Tuinman won two events each to lead the Blue Jays in their final dual meet of the season.
Hopkins kicked off the meet by going one-two in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of
Jaya Veerapaneni,
Taylor Rohovit,
Ken Lee and
Elizabeth Cohen earned the win with a time of 3:51.18. Taking second place were
Nyah Stahl,
Katherine Chelus, Petitt and
Anna Miler in 3:54.74.
Meg Suil won the first individual event of the day with a nearly 20-second win in the 1000 Free (10:42.50). The Blue Jays then swept the top three spots in the 200 Free, led by Tuinman with her swim of 1:53.94.
Ayden Min took second place (1:56.06), followed by
Sarah Fox in third (1:58.26). Miler beat the field in the 100 Back as she touched in 58.35. Cohen finished in third place with a time of 1:02.19.
Petitt and Chelus then went one-two in the 100 Breast, with Petitt touching in 1:07.57 and Chelus in 1:07.91. Hopkins turned in another one-two-three finish in the 200 Fly, led by Stahl and her winning time of 2:09.06.
Melissa Er finished in second (2:09.40) and
Rachel Davis took third (2:13.84). Liu beat the field in the 50 Free as she swam a 24.28 for the win.
It was a third one-two-three finish for the Blue Jays in the 100 Free, led by Fox and her swim of 54.35.
Hannah Fu finished in 54.55 and
Carly White touched in 54.81. Lee then picked up their first individual win of the day as they clocked in at 2:03.21 to win the 200 Back by more than six seconds. Liu earned her second win of the day as she swam a 2:22.87, winning the 200 Breast, by more than five and a half seconds.
Hopkins took the top three spots in the 500 Free with Rohovit taking the win in 5:06.50.
Alex Watson followed in second (5:09.59) and Davis in third (5:17.60). JHU turned the same trick in the 100 Fly, led by Petitt and her winning time of 57.84. Min finished in second place (59.32) and Veerapaneni finished in third (1:02.20). Tuinman picked up her second win with a swim of 2:08.14 in the 200 IM. Er took second place in 2:09.53.
The Blue Jays ended the meet the same way it started, with first and second place finishes in a relay. Liu, Watson, Veerapaneni and Miler turned in a time of 3:33.36 to win the 400 Free Relay. Taking second place were Min, Fox,
Alia Basler and Rohovit in 3:35.52.
Hopkins is back in the pool on Thursday, February 6 at the Cavalier Invitational.
