BALTIMORE, MD – Gettysburg rode an early goal to a 1-0 win at Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference action Saturday night. The Blue Jays fall to 3-4-5 overall and 1-1-2 in the conference while the Bullets improve to 6-4-2 and 1-1-2 in the CC.
Gettysburg scored what turned out to be the game's only goal in just the 13
th minute. Noah Holgado dribbled up the right sideline before cutting back and crossing the ball into the box. At the near post, Sergio Neto flicked it across the goal and inside the left post.
John Ghanem made back-to-back saves in the 34
th minute to keep it a one-goal game. Ghanem got a foot on a Dylan Capazario shot and then was able to corral a rebound effort by Diallo Cowan.
In the 53
rd minute, a
Connor Wilkes cross slipped through to
Giulian Laudisa, who tapped a left-footed shot that just skipped wide of the right post.
Brendan Listzwan then just missed high with a header off a
Scotty Coleman free kick in the 69
th minute.
Ghanem finished with five saves for the Blue Jays while Sean Kennedy also made five saves for the Bullets. Hopkins finished with a 17-12 edge in shots and a 6-5 advantage in corners.
Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, October 8 against Salisbury. The non-contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
