NEW ORLEANS – Johns Hopkins cross country senior
Emmanuel Leblond earned top honors after being named the Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), with
Cullen Doody also receiving the Mid-Atlantic Men's Coach of the Year award.
Leblond earned the regional accolade after becoming the first individual champion in program history. His victory also marked the Blue Jays' highest individual finish since 2019, when
Jared Pangallozzi placed fourth. Leblond made history this season, becoming the only athlete in the field to secure four consecutive All-America honors, and only the 18th runner in Division III history to do so. His championship time of 23:35.0 set a new record, breaking the previous mark set in 2015 by four-tenths of a second. He is also the first athlete in program history to be named Athlete of the Year twice.
In his first year as head coach, Doody guided the Blue Jays to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina—Johns Hopkins' best team finish since 2019. The Blue Jays finished with 216 points. Earlier in the season, they claimed team titles at both the Mid-Atlantic Region Championships (23 points) and the Centennial Conference Championships (19 points).
