BALTIMORE, MD – Visiting Georgetown edged Johns Hopkins by just 10 points in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Barbara & Jerry Procton Pool. The Hoyas won 136-126 while the Blue Jays won five events and broke two pool records.
Hopkins wasted no time in taking down a pair of pool records. The team of
Aden Li,
Larry Yu,
Avery Clapp and
Michael Ivanov won the 400 Medley Relay in 3:16.81, an NCAA B qualifying time. Their swim broke the pool record by nearly three seconds, and they beat the Hoyas by 3.08 seconds. In addition, Li's leadoff leg of 48.66 broke the pool record by two tenths of a second and is also an NCAA B time. The team of

Carl Stauffer,
Kai Henrikson-Brandt and
Christian Mary finished in third with a time of 3:25.11. Jewett also turned in an NCAA B time with his leadoff leg of 49.17.
Alessandro Pereira swam to a second-place finish in the 1000 Free, touching in 9:39.03.
Jack Cornish followed in third place with a time of 9:44.85.
Larkin Helman then took second in the 200 Free in 1:41.25, while
Ken Ning took fourth (1:42.64). Hopkins then went two-three-four in the 100 Back, led by Jewett with a swim of 50.04. Henrikson-Brandt finished in 50.37 and Li touched in 51.24.
Yu claimed second in the 100 Breast (56.86) and later took second in the 200 (2:05.74). Clapp then won the first of his two individual events with a swim of 1:49.92 to win the 200 Fly by more than two seconds. Ivanov finished second in the 50 Free, clocking in at 21.11 while
Adam Sandid finished third (21.41). In the next swim, Ivanov out-touched Georgetown's Isaac Holtham by one-hundredth of a second to take second in the 100 Free (46.89).
Bryce Lloyd won a tight race in the 200 Back, touching the wall in 1:50.31 to beat the Hoyas' Ronan Krauss by six-hundredths of a second. Helman then led a Blue Jay sweep of the top three spots in the 500 Free with a time of 4:38.08.
Josiah March finished in 4:39.10, followed by Ning in 4:42.54. Clapp picked up his second win, finishing in 49.14 to win the 100 Fly. Li finished in a close second with a swim of 49.32.
Matthew Hartshorn took second place in the 400 IM, touching in 4:02.90. Pereira clocked in at 4:05.24 for fourth place. Hopkins ended the night with second and third-place finishes in the 200 Free Relay. Ivanov, Clapp, Yu and Sandid took second in 1:22.81.
Justin Ely, Nin, Henrikson-Brandt and Li finishd in third with a time of 1:23.89.
Hopkins returns to action at Loyola's H2ounds Invitational November 21-23.
