Nwosu Earns First Team AFCA All-America Honors

Senior Becomes JHU's Ninth AFCA All-American

WACO, TX – Johns Hopkins senior offensive lineman Michael Nwosu continued to add to his already impressive resume as he was named a First Team AFCA All-American today.  Nwosu becomes the ninth AFCA All-American in Johns Hopkins history and the first since Luke Schuermann was named to the first team in 2023.  This is the fourth time a Blue Jay offensive lineman has been named to the team as Armand Jenifer grabbed first team honors in 2012 and 2013 and Colin Egan was named to the first team in 2015.

The selection for Nwosu marks the third All-America selection of his career as he was named to the D3football.com All-America Team in 2023 (4th Team) and 2024 (4th Team).

This season, Nwosu was a First Team All-Centennial Conference selection for the third consecutive year and he earned All-Centennial honors for the fourth time in his career after being a second team selection as a freshman.  He has helped the Blue Jays to an 11-1 record thus far and Johns Hopkins will host Susquehanna in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, December 13 (12 pm).  Nwosu made his school-record 50th consecutive start in Johns Hopkins' 45-13 win over Salisbury in the third round of the NCAA playoffs.
With Nwosu leading the way, Johns Hopkins is currently averaging 41.6 points and 462.3 yards per game.  The Blue Jays are currently averaging more than 200 yards rushing (201.2) and passing (261.2) and are coming off a 563-yard showing in the 45-13 win over Salisbury.  Playing one of the strongest schedules in the nation, the Blue Jays have totaled more than 450 yards of total offense seven times, have rushed for more than 200 yards six times and have scored at least 27 points in all 12 games thus far.

With his recent selection to the All-Centennial Team, Nwosu also became just the fifth player in program history to earn All-Centennial honors four or more times and he is just the 19th Johns Hopkins player to earn first team honors three times.
