Bay Harvey is one of five finalists for the 2025 Gagliardi (
guh-LAR-dee) Trophy presented by Stearns Bank it was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Gagliardi Trophy, given annually since 1993, is awarded to the nation's most outstanding NCAA Division III football player and recognizes excellence in athletics, academics and community service. The award is named after John Gagliardi, Saint John's (MN) legendary Hall of Fame head football coach who passed away at the age of 91 in 2018. Gagliardi retired in 2012 with 489 career victories, the most in college football history.

The 2025 Gagliardi Trophy winner will be revealed on D3football.com during the week of the NCAA Division III football national championship game. In the lead up to the announcement of the 2025 Gagliardi Trophy winner, D3football.com will provide updates on specific dates and times of the announcement. The national championship game will be played on Sunday, January 4 in Canton, Ohio (8 pm / ESPN).

Harvey is the second Gagliardi finalist in program history, although he is the first under the current selection structure of naming semifinalists, finalists and then a recipient. In 2011, former Blue Jay standout quarterback
Hewitt Tomlin was one of 10 finalists announced for the award on November 29. From that group of 10, four individuals were later invited to the award ceremony; Tomlin was not among the four. Semifinalists were not announced under the selection structure in 2011.

A Third Team Associated Press All-American, the D3football.com Region 2 Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team D3football.com All-Region and First Team All-Centennial selection this season, Harvey has guided the Blue Jays to a 12-1 record and a second straight trip to the NCAA Semifinals. Johns Hopkins, which tied the program record for wins in a season with a 40-10 win over Susquehanna in the NCAA Quarterfinals, will play at Wisconsin-River Falls (12-1) in the NCAA Semifinals on Saturday, December 20 (12 pm (CT) / ESPN+).

This season, Harvey is 219-of-318 (.689) for 3,091 yards with 31 touchdowns against just four interceptions and he ranks second on the team in rushing with 621 yards and 12 touchdowns. He ranks sixth in the nation in pass efficiency (180.2), 14
th in completion percentage (.689) and fifth in overall points responsible for (258). His 12 rushing touchdowns are a Johns Hopkins single-season record for a quarterback.

Harvey recently broke the Johns Hopkins career record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback and has pushed his total to 26 with two rushing scores in each of Johns Hopkins' three NCAA Playoff games to-date. He enters Saturday's game against Wisconsin-River Falls having accounted for 105 career touchdowns (79 passing / 26 rushing), which is tied for the most in program history, while he ranks second in touchdown passes (79), third in total offense (9,090) and third in passing yards (7.609). Harvey is also 26-3 as Johns Hopkins' starting quarterback.

Off the field, Harvey graduated with a 3.73 cumulative grade point average last December with a degree in economics and a minor in applied math and statistics. He is currently enrolled as a graduate student (finance) at the Carey School of Business at Johns Hopkins while also working full-time at Constellation Energy as an Associate Origination Analyst.

The Gagliardi Trophy national-selection committee is comprised of 18 Division III coaches (three from each NCAA Region), six Division III administrators (one from each region), 12 regional notable voters (two from each region) and six national voters with Division III backgrounds. A fan vote, which runs until Dec. 15, will be live soon on D3football.com. No J-Club members vote as part of the national-selection committee.
