HOBOKEN, NJ – Johns Hopkins won all four of its matches on Sunday at the MACFA B vs. C, hosted by Stevens. The Blue Jays improve to 24-12 on the season while juniors
Matthew Dao and
Larry Cai reached milestone wins.
Hopkins opened the day with a 26-1 win over Hunter.
Alex Jeffords and
Leonid Kotov each went 3-0 to lead the Sabre squad to a 9-0 win.
Alastair Thompson and
Yi Peng Sha did the same in an 8-1 win by the Foil squad. And in the Epee,
Jorge Gana and
Ayan Bhatnagar combined for six wins as the Blue Jays won 9-0.
JHU then won a 16-11 decision over NJIT in the Blue Jays' closest match of the day. The Foil squad grabbed an 8-1 win, fueled by three wins each by Sha and
Vir Gogoi. Cai and
Neil Pandey won two bouts each in a close 5-4 loss by the Sabre squad. Gana won two of three bouts in a 5-4 loss in the Epee.
Hopkins rebounded with a 27-0 win over Yeshiva. Kotov and Jeffords combined for six wins in the Sabre, while Gana and
Darius Kim did the same in the Epee. Gogi, Thompson and
Omar Reyes led the Foil squad to a 9-0 win.
The Blue Jays ended the day with a 24-3 win over the Army Black Knights. Kotov, Pandey and Cai each won two bouts as the Sabre squad won 6-3. Gogoi, Thompson and Reyes once again won all nine bouts in a shutout win by the Foil squad. Dao and Kim earned three wins each in a 9-0 win in the Epee.
Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, February 23 at the Temple Invitational.
