BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins baseball team hosted Cairn in its first-of-two midweek games Wednesday afternoon, dominating the Highlanders 16-3. Tonight's victory marks the 14
th time the Blue Jays hit four-or-more home runs in a game since the start of the 2024 season, and the first time recording six since smacking seven in last season's NCAA Regional win against Arcadia 20-8.
Hopkins (3-0) found themselves in an early deficit, surrendering the first run to the Highlanders (0-1) on a second-inning Zach Bauers home run. However, the Jays did not trail for long, scoring six runs in the bottom half on a leadoff homer by
Jacob Harris, followed by back-to-back-to-back home runs by
Alex Shane,
Shawn Steuerer and
Caleb Cyr.
The Blue Jays continued to swing the bats, recording two five-run frames (3
rd, 6
th), with Steuerer launching his second long-ball of the game. This is the second time in three games that the senior has recorded a multi-home run performance.
The Blue Jays are back in action tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 27 at home with a matchup against Messiah at 2:30 PM.
