Hopkins Shutout Against Denison, 2-0

The Blue Jays were shutout for the first time since 2022

WINTER HAVEN, FL – The No. 2-ranked Johns Hopkins baseball team faced seventh-ranked Denison (10-3) in the sixth game of their spring break, Tuesday morning, going scoreless against the Big Red 2-0 in its second loss of the season. The Blue Jay offense was shutout for the first time since 2022, when they lost in conference action to Washington College 4-0.

Denison struck first, taking an early one-run lead in the first inning – one they didn't surrender, adding their second run via a seventh-inning lead-off home run. Hopkins (13-2) struggled offensively to get base runners, having 24-of-28 batters retired since the first inning. However, with a single in the first inning, Caleb Cyr extended his hit streak to nine games.

In the low scoring affair, Kieren Collins suffered the loss, moving to 4-1 on the season, however, the graduate student pitched well, retiring 17-of-21 batters he faced after allowing a pair of singles to the first two Big Red batters.

The Blue Jays are back in action Thursday, March 20 in the seventh game of the RussMatt Invitational in Florida, taking on UMass Boston with first pitch scheduled for 12:30 PM.
