ROSEMONT, IL – For the second consecutive year, the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team led the league and set a program record with 42 players earning Academic All-Big Ten honors for the 2025 season as the league announced honorees in spring and at-large sports this week. The 42 selections broke the previous program record of 38 Academic All-Big Ten honorees in 2024 and this is the fourth consecutive year that the Blue Jays have had 30 or more players honored.
A total of 174 players from the six schools that sponsor men's lacrosse in the Big Ten were named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team. In all, a total of 2,823 student-athletes competing in spring and at-large sports league-wide were honored.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The 42 selections this year boost Johns Hopkins all-time total of Academic All-Big Ten selections to 241 since joining the league in 2015.
Per the stated eligibility criteria that does not allow first-year transfers for freshmen to be named, Johns Hopkins had 42 eligible nominees for the Academic All-Big Ten Team. Translation, every Blue Jay men's lacrosse player who was a sophomore, junior, senior or returning graduate student in 2025 earned a spot on the team as each of the 42 players maintains at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
