Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Goldstein, Feldman Power #5/5 Blue Jays Past Gettysburg, 67-46

Largest Margin of Victory Over Bullets Since 2004

BALTIMORE, MD – The No. 5/5 Johns Hopkins women's basketball team controlled the paint from start to finish on Saturday afternoon, as freshman Jocelyn Goldstein poured in a career-high 22 points to lead the Blue Jays past Gettysburg, 67-46, inside Goldfarb Gymnasium. The 21-point victory marked Hopkins' largest margin over the Bullets since 2004 and lifted the Blue Jays to 13-0 overall and 3-0 in Centennial Conference play, keeping them among the nation's seven remaining unbeaten Division III teams.

Hopkins set the tone early with a 13-2 run to open the game, forcing three Gettysburg turnovers and getting baskets from both Goldstein and Macie Feldman. The Bullets responded to trim the deficit, but the Blue Jays still held a 14-8 advantage after one quarter.

Gettysburg continued to hang around in the second, cutting the lead to 22-19 midway through the frame. Back-to-back three-pointers from Kendall Dunham and Beth Corelli, however, pushed the margin back to nine and swung the momentum back to Hopkins. Despite the surge, Gettysburg stayed within reach, sending the Blue Jays into halftime with a 32-25 lead.

Both offenses cooled off in the third quarter, as the teams combined to shoot just 9-of-34 from the field. Goldstein's presence in the paint proved to be the difference, while defensive pressure from Goldstein, Layla Henderson and Stephanie Theodossakos helped Hopkins maintain control during the low-scoring stretch.

The Blue Jays took command for good in the fourth. After Gettysburg cut the deficit to 50-40 with 7:48 remaining, Hopkins answered with an 8-1 run fueled by buckets from Feldman, Dunham, Goldstein and Henderson to push the lead to 58-41. The Bullets never recovered, as Hopkins stretched the margin to 21 to secure its 13th straight victory and extend its regular-season winning streak to 25 games, dating back to January of last year.

Goldstein led all scorers with 22 points and seven rebounds on 9-of-13 shooting, adding a block and a steal. Feldman posted a monster all-around performance, recording a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds to go along with five assists and a steal.

Johns Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, January 17, when it travels to Lancaster, PA to take on Franklin & Marshall inside the Mayser Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
