NEW YORK, NY – Host and second-ranked New York University defeated Johns Hopkins, 199-62, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays fall to 6-3 in dual meets this season.
Hopkins took third and fifth in the 200 Medley Relay to open the meet.
Jaya Veerapaneni,
Reese Rosenthal,
Ken Lee and
Anna Miler finished in 1:47.43 for third place. The team of
Kimberly Lan,
Amy Hu,
Kate Petitt and
Elizabeth Cohen took fifth in 1:50.12.
Julia Tuinman then placed fourth in the 1000 Free with a swim of 11:04.44.
Lee and
Claire Han placed third and fourth, respectively in the 200 Free with times of 1:54.40 and 1:56.13. Veerapaneni followed with a second-place finish in the 100 Back as she clocked in at 57.63. Miler finished in fourth place with a time of 59.21. Rosenthal then led the Blue Jays with a fifth-place finish in the 100 Breast (1:09.36).
Maddie Horner finished in third place in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:12.00, while Cohen took third in the 50 Free in 24.63. Veerapaneni placed fifth in the 100 Free in 54.57. Lee then grabbed a win for the Blue Jays with a swim of 2:02.90. They won by more than 1.2 seconds and posted an NCAA B time.
Rachel Davis took fifth place in the 200 Breast (2:30.70) and
Alex Watson placed fourth in the 500 Free (5:20.63).
Cohen led a trio of Blue Jays that finished third through fifth in the 100 Fly, with a swim of 59.09. Petitt finished in 59.44 and beat
Melissa Er by just three-hundredths of a second for fourth place. Davis and Tuinman then went two-three in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:12.70 and 2:13.93, respectively.
The Blue Jays ended the day with third and fourth place finishes in the 400 Free Relay. Cohen, Miler, Veerapaneni and Watson combined for a time of 3:34.68. The team of
Claire Han,
Angela Kim, Lan and Lee finished in 3:36.85.
Hopkins closes out the dual meet portion of its schedule on Saturday, January 31 against William & Mary. The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start at the Barbara & Jerry Procton Pool.
