Blue Jays, Mules Meet at Homewood on Saturday

The Game
«  Johns Hopkins (2-5, 1-3 CC) welcomes Muhlenberg (4-3, 2-2 CC) to Homewood Field for the Blue Jays' second consecutive home game.  JHU had played four of six on the road prior to last week's game against Gettysburg.  This week's game against the Mules is the second of three the Blue Jays will play at Homewood Field in the final four weeks of the regular season.

A Look Back
«  Johns Hopkins snapped its five-game losing streak with a 40-14 win last Friday night at home against Gettysburg.
« Muhlenberg had a two-game winning streak snapped as the Mules fell at Centennial-leading Carnegie Mellon, 34-7, last Saturday.

Poll Position
«  Johns Hopkins is not ranked this week in either the AFCA or D3football.com Polls.
«  Like Johns Hopkins, Muhlenberg does not appear in either the AFCA or D3football.com Poll this week.

The Facts

«  Johns Hopkins enters this week's game with an all-time record of 622-499-57 (.552).
«  Overall, JHU owns 17 Centennial Conference titles (all 17 won since 2002) and has qualified for the NCAA Playoffs 14 times (all 14 since 2005).

Oktoberfest
«   The calendar flipped to October with the recent game at Dickinson and the month has been good to the Blue Jays of late.
«  Despite the 1-3 mark in October this season, the Blue Jays have won 50 of their last 56 games in the month of October dating back to 2010.
«  The Blue Jays had been just 10-8 in their previous 18 games in the month of October before jump-starting the current 56-game run with a 49-24 win at Susquehanna (10-23-2010).
« During their October run dating back to 2010, the Jays have lost just once at home.

Strength of Schedule
« Combined, JHU's three non-conference opponents are currently 17-4 (.810) on the year.
« The seven teams Johns Hopkins has played to-date (Ithaca, Randolph-Macon, Susquehanna, Dickinson, Carnegie Mellon, Ursinus, Gettysburg) are currently a combined 35-14 (.714).  Ranked by opponent winning percentage, Johns Hopkins has played the sixth most difficult schedule in the nation to-date.
« The combined record of the Blue Jays' 10 opponents this season is 41-22 (.651); that ranks as the fourth-highest overall opponent winning percentage in the nation.  By that metric, Johns Hopkins is the only team in the Centennial Conference with one of the 25 most difficult schedules in the nation.

Friday Night Lights Recap
« Including last week's win against Gettysburg and dating back 1982 (when JHU began regularly scheduling Friday night games), Johns Hopkins is 47-18-1 (.720) on Friday night, including 42-13-1 (.759) at Homewood Field.
« Johns Hopkins has now won 18 straight home games on Friday night dating back to 2008.
« The Blue Jays will play one more game on Friday night this year as they will close the regular season by hosting Franklin & Marshall on Friday, November 13 (7 pm).

Fourth Down Magic
« Johns Hopkins was 5-for-5 on fourth-down chances in last week's win against Gettysburg and is now 13-of-22 (.591) on the year on fourth down.
« The Blue Jays scored four of their five touchdowns in the win against the Bullets on fourth down as junior Luke Baker threw a touchdown pass to Robby Enright and Baker, Ty Pugliano and Milan Desai all had rushing touchdowns on fourth down.
« Last week's showing is believed to be the first time in program history that Johns Hopkins has scored a touchdown on four, fourth-down plays in one game.
« Johns Hopkins' 13 successful fourth-down attempts this season are currently tied for 15th in the nation, while the Blue Jays' conversion percentage is 47th.  Among teams with 20 or more attempts (55 teams), JHU ranks ninth in conversion percentage.

Olson Closing Strong
«  Senior Sawyer Olson is enjoying the finest season of his career and had another strong showing in last week's win against Gettysburg.
« Olson totaled five tackles, including one sack, and recovered a fumble in the 40-14 victory over the Bullets.
« In seven games this season, Olson now ranks third on the team in tackles (42), first in tackles for loss (5.5) and sacks (3.0) and has JHU's only two fumble recoveries on the year.« Olson enters this week's game with 69 career tackles, including 11.5 TFLs and 7.5 sacks, in his career.

Enright Reaches 100 Receptions
«  Senior Robby Enright had four receptions for 62 yards and two touchdowns to help the Blue Jays to the 40-14 win against Gettysburg.
« With his effort against the Bullets, Enright bumped his season totals to 32 receptions for 356 yards and five touchdowns - all three totals lead the team through seven games.
« In addition, Enright pushed his career totals to 100 receptions for 1,371 yards and 16 touchdowns with last week's showing against the Bullets.  He is the 23rd player in program history to reach 100 career receptions.
« With three games remaining in the regular season, Enright needs 129 receiving yards to become the 20th player in school history to reach 1,500 yards.  With four more TD receptions, he'd become the 12th player with 20 or more career TD catches.
« Enright would become just the 12th player in program history with 100 receptions, 1,500 receiving yards and 20 touchdown receptions if he reaches those marks.

Olah Second in the CC in PBUs
«  Junior Kevin Olah has recorded 31 tackles, a team-high eight pass breakups and one interception through seven games.  He is tied for fourth on the team in tackles, leads the team in PBUs and is tied for the team lead in INTs.
« Olah's eight pass breakups to-date are tied for second in the Centennial Conference and his nine overall passes defended (INTs + PBUs) are also tied for second.

Alley at 50+ ... Again
«  Chase Alley had a 57-yard punt last week against Gettysburg.  That was his 14th career punt of 50+ yards.
« Alley currently ranks third in the Centennial in punting this season at 41.1 yards/attempt.
« In his career, Alley is averaging 39.6 yards on 144 punts; among active Division III punters, he ranks seventh in career punting average.

Stup Continues Climb Up Tackle Charts
«  Sophomore LB Cole Stup continues to make an impact in the middle of the Blue Jay defense as he led the team with nine tackles at Ursinus and 11 last week against Gettysburg.
« Through seven games, he now ranks second on the team in tackles with 54 and has 4.0 TFLs and one pass breakup to his credit.
« Stup currently ranks sixth in the Centennial Conference in tackles and tackles per game (7.7).
« Stup is one of three sophomores among the seven players in the CC with 50 or more tackles to-date this season; only one of the seven, Johns Hopkins' Justin Scully, is a senior.
« Stup's 3.5 TFLs at Carnegie Mellon are the most by a Johns Hopkins player since Isaac Urquidi had 3.5 in a 27-13 win against John Carroll early in the 2025 season.

At Home at Homewood
«  Since the start of the 2014 season, the Blue Jays are 66-7 (.904) at Homewood Field; they are 82-10 (.891) at Homewood since 2010.
«  JHU won a school-record 19 consecutive games at home from midway through the 2019 season until the 2023 NCAA Quarterfinal.
