BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team played nine games in a 26-day span in the month of September and capped that run with a 2-0 win against Haverford last Saturday at Homewood Field. The win against the Fords was followed by a much-needed break of seven days between games.
Â
The seven days between games didn't slow down the Blue Jays, who returned to action with a 3-0 win at Bryn Mawr on Saturday afternoon that bumps their winning streak to three games and improves their season record to 7-1-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference.
Â
Johns Hopkins controlled play throughout, outshooting the Owls 28-0 while collecting all 11 corner kicks in the game. The Blue Jays fired 13 of those 28 shots at Bryn Mawr goalie
Lily Blackman in the first half, but needed nearly 39 minutes to break through. A
Natalie Kokenda shot from the edge of the box was punched away by Blackman, but the rebounded landed right at the foot of junior
Gwen Rauvola, who punched it into an open net to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.
Â
The one-goal lead was never seriously threatened, but also wouldn't grow until just over seven minutes elapsed in the second half. Playing off a corner, the Blue Jays pressured and Blackman was equal to a
Lauren Fang offering, only to have freshman
Addi Dauler poke home the rebound to double the Blue Jay lead.
Â
Johns Hopkins added an insurance goal in the 77
th minute to close out the scoring. Blackman's goal kick landed near midfield at the foot of Johns Hopkins sophomore
Keira Petrucelli, who dribbled forward and got to the top of the box, where she sent one inside the far post and just past the out-stretched hands of Blackman. The goal is the first of Petrucelli's career.
Â
Sophomore
Cynthia Waller went the distance in goal for the Blue Jays and wasn't forced to make a save in recording the first win and shutout of her career.
Â
This is the first time since almost exactly a year ago to the day that the Blue Jay defense hasn't allowed a shot. That last such occurrence came on October 4, 2025 in a 5-0 win against Bryn Mawr. This is the second time this season the Blue Jays have not allowed an opposing team to attempt a corner (Kenyon).
Â
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Wednesday, October 7 when the Blue Jays welcome Gettysburg to Homewood Field for another Centennial Conference game (7 pm).
