BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins won all four of its matchups on Sunday at the MACFA A vs C round robin. JHU grabbed wins over Lafayette, Cornell, Rutgers and Drew to improve to 18-4 on the season.
Hopkins opened the day with a 25-2 win over Lafayette.
Alex Jeffords and
Noah Zeng each went 3-0 to lead the Sabre squad to a 9-0 win.
Spencer Grossman Smisek,
Josh Sima and
Omar Reyes did the same in a 9-0 win by the Foil squad.
Matthew Dao and
Ayan Bhatnagar won two bouts apiece to lead the Epee squad to a 7-2 win.
The Blue Jays followed with an 18-9 win over the Cornell Big Red. Jeffords, Zeng,
Alex Pan and
Leonid Kotov won one bout each in a 5-4 loss for the Sabre squad. Grossman Smisek won each of his three bouts to lead the Foil squad to a 7-2 win. In the Epee,
Jorge Gana,
Ethan Insler and
Jamie Knox won two each in a 7-2 win for the Blue Jays.
Hopkins then beat Rutgers 25-2.
Miles Zhou and
Alex Chterental won two bouts each and the Sabre squad won 8-1, while Reyes went 3-0 to lead the Foil squad to an 8-1 win. Gana, Insler and
Leo He picked up two wins apiece to pace the Epee squad to a 9-0 win.
JHU wrapped up the day with a 24-3 win over Drew. Zeng won each of his three bouts in an 8-1 win for the Sabre squad. Grossman Smisek, Reyes and
Alastair Thompson combined for nine wins for the Foil squad. Dao, Knox and Dao then won two bouts each in a 7-2 win for the Epee squad.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, February 7 at the Duke Invitational.
